Thai Massage is relatively new to the West, but was developed by Buddhist monks in Thailand as a healing modality 2,500 years ago. Thai massage uses passive stretching and gentle pressure along the body’s energy lines to increase flexibility, relieve muscle and joint tension and balance the body’s energy systems. Thai massage is both deeply relaxing and energizing.
Traditional Thai massage often involves use of hot herbal balls. These herbal balls are steamed to release the herbs healing properties and the heat is used to relax tight muscles. After removal from the steamer, the herbal balls are wrapped in a cloth and rolled on the clients body. The warm penetrating heat of the herbal balls, as well as the healing properties of the herbs, are excellent at releasing tired sore muscles and relaxing the body.
Thai Herbal Ball MassageThai massage can take place on a regular massage table or on a large therapy table or surface. The Client wears loose comfortable clothing. The Therapist performs a routine of stretches with gentle compression along the body’s energy lines. This therapy opens up and relaxes the body for a deep stretch and allows the body to release and relax. Thai massage is often described as lazy man’s yoga, because the client is passively stretched by the therapist into yoga like positions.
